The Australia Latin America Foundation exists to promote better mutual understanding between the two regions through the medium of cultural exchange. In particular, its objectives are:

  • To initiate, promote and encourage educational, scientific and cultural exchange between Australia and the countries of Latin America and specifically to: further the study, appreciation, practice and development of Australian arts and society in Latin America and of Latin American arts and society in Australia.
  • To develop and promote an appreciation among educators, scientists and arts practitioners and the general public of the skills and services provided by Australia Latin America Foundation Limited.
  • To acquire, preserve and disseminate information and statistics concerning or relating to matters in any way relevant to any aspects of educational, scientific and cultural exchange between Australia and the countries of Latin America.
  • To provide and maintain a library containing such technical or other literature and audio-visual materials relating to any aspects of Australia-Latin American educational, scientific and cultural exchange.
  • To provide information on Australia-Latin American educational, scientific and cultural exchange by promoting lectures, discussions, seminars, exhibitions, correspondence, books, journals or other literary or audio-visual forms.
  • To publish a journal or journals containing material of interest to members and for the dissemination of knowledge of Australia-Latin American educational, scientific and cultural exchange or any aspect of them.
  • To initiate, promote and organise visits and tour of and by Australian educators, scientists, artists, exhibitions, seminars and ensembles in Latin America and of Latin American educators, scientists, artists, exhibitions, seminars and ensembles in Australia.
  • To give administrative, technical, managerial and other assistance and to grant or give (subject to such conditions and limitations as the company may impose) any financial support and association, group or individual concerned with or undertaking any projects in connection with Australian-Latin American educational, scientific and cultural exchange.
